Tom was brought up on Glenaray, a high country station in Northern Southland. In 1995 the family purchased Northburn Station and Tom moved to the somewhat drier country of Central Otago.  His varied knowledge and experience in farming, viticulture and wine drinking, makes him the perfect host for our many wine tasting groups.

Jan Pinckney - Owner and General Manager

Jan has a passion for wine, food and hospitality. Previously Jan ran a catering business and owned a restaurant before meeting Tom and making the move to Northburn. Over the years, in between raising three children, she has organised and catered for a number of successful weddings and functions both on the site of 'The Shed' and elsewhere using a mobile kitchen. With the establishment of the new building she has finally got the commercial kitchen of her dreams.

Richard Broadhead - Winemaker

Richard is Jan's brother and is the company wine operations manager and winemaker. Richard's experience includes being a co-manager of a boutique wine shop and wine importing business and prior to Northburn had over 20 years in a non-commercial wine-making venture.

Shane Livingstone - Viticulturist

Shane joined the team in September 2008 and manages the Northburn Vineyard. He comes with a stack of professional qualifications as well as over 15 years experience in vineyards and wineries both in New Zealand and overseas. Shane's particular interest is in soil health and Biodynamics in particular, and is guiding the vineyard down this enlightened path.
