Northburn Station Pinot NoirNorthburn Station is a high country merino sheep station; vineyard and premium wine producer; as well as a wedding and function venue situated in the heart of Central Otago, New Zealand. It is surrounded by spectacular snow-capped mountains, overlooks the picturesque Lake Dunstan and is only a few minutes drive out of Cromwell.

Owners Tom & Jan Pinckney have diversified from the traditional grazing operation to follow their passions for wine, food and hospitality. Jan, having owned a restaurant before raising a family, has an extensive history in food preparation. You can follow Tom and goings on at Northburn Station on Twitter.

A 23 hectare vineyard, established in 1999, currently produces around 2000 cases of wine a year under the Northburn Station label – primarily richly flavoured Pinot Noirs – but also Pinot Gris, Riesling, and Rosé. Wines are available for purchase online by clicking here or by visiting one of our retail partners.

Northburn Station Function Centre and Cellar DoorHuey, Dewey & LouieAmong the vines is a glorious cellar door and function venue affectionately known as "The Shed". The impressive hay loft and stable style building is modelled on the Northburn Station Homestead and adjacent historic woolshed of the 1850's. The Shed sits in a dramatic but tranquil setting alongside a small pond with resident ducks Huey, Dewey & Louie. It is a perfect spot to sample Northburn's stunning wines.

The cellar door offers wine tastings daily from 10.30am to 4.30pm with wine and food match options. Winery lunch platters are available as well as coffee, tea and home baking. A farm gate shop sells merino meats from the farm, whitebait when available and preserves made with produce from the garden. The multi-use function room is perfect for corporate meetings, launches, weddings, or any special occasion.

Northburn Station Lakeside CottageImmediately below the vineyard on the shores of Lake Dunstan is a modern 3-bedroom cottage that is available for rent. This is an ideal spot from which to base yourself and explore the Central Otago region. From fishing at your doorstep to sky-diving, the region offers a host of activities to cater for all tastes.
